Mayli Nitsch

Design Assistant

What inspired you to get into design?

Ever since I was a kid, I have always liked rearranging my room, making elaborate doll house set ups, or binge watching HGTV. Designing new configurations or mood boards became an obsession of mine. It wasn’t until my Senior year of high school that I realized that Interior Design would allow me to be creative and make beautiful spaces.

What is your favorite style of design and why?

I truly cannot pick just one type of design style. I have always loved Victorian design with all the ornate details and intricate architecture and character. But I also love Bohemian design styles with natural materials and biophilic accents!

How do you approach design jobs?

I start by actively listening to the customers’ ideas and vision. From there, I work to find practical, functional ways to bring those ideas to life within their space—ensuring the design not only looks great but also fits their lifestyle and needs.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I truly enjoy the opportunity to learn from the talented Design Assistants and Designers I work with. Gaining product knowledge and continually expanding my design skills is both inspiring and motivating. Being surrounded by beautiful, thoughtfully designed pieces every day naturally fuels my creativity and keeps me excited about the work I do.

What advice would you give someone considering a kitchen/bath remodel?

Find what YOU want in your home! We can only read your mind so much so tell us what you do or don’t like about your design, and we will change it to cater to you and your family’s needs. If you have trouble making decisions - I always say it’s easier to say what you don’t like, and then by process of elimination we will find the right color or product for you. And remember at the end of the day this is your home and your space so make it something that works for you!

What’s a fun fact about you?

I am classically trained to play the violin. I started private lessons just before I started kindergarten when I was 5 years old, and I played all through my 12 years of school and then on!
